Stephen joined Fox Hayes, as a Partner, in 2006 to head up a Sports and Media law practice. After a brief stint as in-house counsel for Racing UK , a horse racing channel broadcasting on BskyB, where Stephen undertook a legal audit putting in place the necessary media agreements, Stephen joined Fox Hayes as a Partner in the Commercial Department in January 2006. In addition to continuing to act for Frank Warren and Sports Network Stephen is committed to expanding the sports and media practice and welcomes any enquiries in this regard. Prior to specializing in Sports and Media law, Stephen qualified as a Solicitor in 1993, with Turner Kenneth Brown who merged shortly afterwards with Nabarro Nathanson, practising in their Commercial Department based in Doncaster . Main areas of work included corporate transactional work, contentious and non-contentious employment advice and construction litigation. In 1995 Stephen joined Park Nelson as a Solicitor based in London . Main areas of work included construction litigation and professional indemnity insurance defence, mainly acting on behalf of APIA , as insurers of architects and surveyors. He also provided employment advice to several PLC's including Angela Mortimer PLC. He provided general legal support to Frank Warren of Sports Network (sports promoters) in relation to his boxing business and operation of Bedford Rugby Club and other sports related interests. Stephen has also conducted defamation actions for Mr Warren. Stephen also conducted the defence of several high profile director disqualification actions. In 1998 Stephen joined McLellans as a Partner. He provided commercial advice and litigation support to the national public house chain, Wetherspoons, and McMullans, the UK 's largest independent brewery. He conducted licensing and employment tribunal advocacy, health and safety litigation and corporate transactional work. Stephen's hobbies and interests include rock climbing and the rather more sedate sport of golf with a very unhealthy handicap of 2.
